A publication journal mapping the travels of my writings |
My first choice for an appointment with an agent was Daniel Lazar of Writers House Agency, and my second was with Robyn Russell of Amy Rennert Agency. Daniel Lazar's appointment list was full immediately, as soon as people could sign up, and of course the insiders got first choice. I did get an appointment with Robyn. She is a very nice and interesting person in her own right. She asked for the synopsis and first 20 pages of Midnight Hours, took them with her. Then at the end of a very interesting session by Daniel yesterday, I spoke with him for a minute. I told him that I had requested an appointment with him but didn't get my first choice. He said, "We've met, so send me 25 pages." He had said that he asks for 5 pages, so I thought I had misunderstood. "Five pages or twenty-five?" I asked. "Twenty-five," he answered. "I said we've met, and I asked for twenty-five pages." I kept from fainting, thanked him, and left before I became just a puddle on the floor. Wow and double wow! I have two agents wanting to see my work. I'll send Stolen to Daniel since I gave Midnight Hours to Robyn. Today I attended another of Dan's sessions, and during the question time, he told two different people to send him two (that's 2) pages with a pitch letter, and I discovered that he told the people that had the one on one appointments with him to send five (that's 5). Wow, wow, wow! He want's 25 from me. I'm not sure why he's interested in my work, whether he has read something of mine some time, somewhere, but in a large envelope, I'm sending him a pitch letter, 25 pages of Stolen, an SASE, and "Requested Material" written on the front of the package. Oh, my, I'm rather in shock. Two agents - two from major agencies - interested enough to want to read some of my work. Just having them that interested is encouraging and exciting. |
