Online journal capturing the moment and the memory of moments. A meadow meditation. |
SPRING: 13 Bahá (2 April) Yep, thar's a weasel in the house: a con-artist that manipulates, a friendly abuser, wily predator looking for unsuspecting prey. Prefers to work quickly, quietly and depart unnoticed. Guess my going off AT FULL VOICE (and on and on and on)about my phone being stolen spurled his fun. Guess he felt like a deer in headlights with someone pointing a gun (not me, that be Larry). When I made it LOUD and clear that I wasn't going to call the police, it meant I had everyone else behind me (otherwise, I would've been called a blowhard and Larry a snitch)! Wow, didn't know that could work! So, the little weasel decided to transform into a wee birdy, tell Brian that the phone was sitting in plain sight, no word where of course ... And this really pissed me off, it being April Fool's Day and all (and a very pleasant one until then I may add). So where to look? Or bother to look . I was the one who found it on a shelf. Stephen said it wasn't there eairlier when he had checked! So ... I'm still pissed off for all the grief it caused. Should I go weasel hunting? Nah ... ain't worth it. The less I do, the more hurt the weasel gonna feel. The word is out. Weather where I am: 66 degrees. Weather in Lihue, Kauai, HI: 76 and a threat of floods. Sybill&Phyllis Well, The Nadas are performing on April 20th. Those of you who thought Sybill and Phyllis were going on a cruise, please be disabused of this bogus notion. They are traveling back east by covered wagon across the Great Plains of Kansas. My proof is at: http://www.pipelineproductions.com/ Just click on The Bottleneck to see their April schedule. It looks like this (edited): Sun 4/2 Kill Hannah / Shiny Toy Guns / Clear Static / DJ Cruz and DJ Konsept -- All Ages, Tue 4/4 Gogol Bordello / Dub Trio / Zox -- Thu 4/6 Will Hoge / OK Jones / Percival -- Fri 4/7 Green Lemon -- Sun 4/9 Smackdown Live Action Trivia / Karaoke...with Trent -- Tue 4/11 Toots and the Maytals / The Southland -- Wed 4/12 Speaker Speaker / Jumprope For Heart -- Thu 4/13 Eisley -- Fri 4/14 Brimstone Howl / The Litigators / The Afterparty -- Sat 4/15 Club Wars -- Tue 4/18 Benevento-Russo Duo -- Thu 4/20 The Nadas -- Fri 4/21 Vibralux / Apocalypse Theatre / Generic -- Sat 4/22 Kansas City Roller Warriors Fundraiser Party! / Superblack Market / The Holy Roses / DJ Cruz -- Sun 4/23 Jupiter Sunrise / I Voted for Kodos / The Effects -- Doors at 6:00, All Ages, Sun 4/23 Karaoke...With Trent! -- Doors at 11:00, Tue 4/25 The Armory / Sacco and Vanzetti / Square Show -- Tue 4/25 The Armory -- Wed 4/26 Lawrence Letter Day / Lucy's Revenge -- Doors at 5:00, All Ages, Wed 4/26 Emma's Mine -- Doors at 10:00, Thu 4/27 Shanti Groove -- Fri 4/28 Martin Sexton / Trevor Hall -- Sat 4/29 The Mic Mechanincs Emcee Battle / presented by Downplay Productions and Lawrence.com -- Sun 4/30 Psychic Ills / Sad Fingers (final show) / Superargo / Davan -- Mon 5/1 Pretty Girls Make Graves / The Joggers / You Say Party I Say Death -- All Ages I had to take it up to May 1st. Pretty Girls Make Graves sounded just too poetically goth to pass over. Now, don't you just love the names! I guess all the good band names (The Monkees, The Beatles) were all taken before they were born. I haven't seen any of them perform, but have met a member of the glam-rock band Vibralux. There is nothing planned on my birthday, but since The Nadas will be in town, maybe I should just ask Sybill (yeah, like I'm that stupid! I remember the movie. Phyllis would be safer .) to arrange a soirée. Added April 3rd: A link to The Nadas: http://www.thenadas.com/nadas/theBand.shtml Off to see the Wizard! SENSED White cherry blossoms, like snowflakes falling; balloons; signs; one float; passing of the daffodils; buds of the cut-leaf maple; tulip tree seed pods bursting forth like tips of a candle, not yet in flame, leaves waiting for the final frost; sweet viburnum; a meadow of anemone; the rusty metal crane; one dandelion at the base of rock; multi-petaled daffodils. Sketched yesterday: Bee I have entered the golden boughs, tasted the first honey of Spring. I've winged my flight to daffodils, among pink almonds I sing. Quickened by the gathering heat, and loaded down too soon, it’s time to join my buzzing sisters, waiting for me at noon to share the bounty of forsythias, this golden Spring's first bloom. [163.30] |
