WILD PAST

[A wild river calms as it reaches the sea.]



Wild youth, wild days and wild nights,
Wild thoughts, wild deeds and wild sights,
Wild times, wild love, wild moments,
Wild past, my present laments.

I was wild in my brute force.
Wild, too, was my mental course.
All that wildness is gone now.
My life has been tamed somehow.

Excess of wildness I had;
Those memories make me sad.
My life has been a nuisance,
Just like a wild turbulence.

Do I miss wild existence?
No I don’t have such pretence.
Truly wild my past has been,
But my present is serene.

A turbulent river slows,
As towards the sea it flows.
So the river of my life
Is now free of too much strife.

May my life now peaceful be.
Let me from wildness be free.
Let me pass my last few days,
Praying and singing His grace.
