FRIENDSHIP—This genre refers to a situation where acquaintance, often between persons of the same gender, matures to a level where they provide support to each other. Cessation of friendship is often without deep heartbreak or insinuations of blame. Friendship can be at any age.

RELATIONSHIP-- This genre refers to a situation where friendship between two persons, often of different genders, matures to a level where they often provide deep emotional support to each other, often combined with expected or actual physical relation. Cessation of friendship is often associated with heartbreak and insinuations of blame. Relationship usually occurs from teen age onwards.
