tick tock tick tock
I made a white chocolate raspberry cake. NOT from scratch. It all came in a neat little kit, and Stephen loved it. He and Jen came over last night. Constance made dinner while I was baking and we all ate too much. Then they watched "Be Cool" and I worked on a meter assignment I found in Mary Kinzie's "A Poet's Guide to Poetry". I've already seen that film, and once was ok. Now, I've got five quatrains of (mostly) iambic tetrameter about something or someone seen through a window. The assignment restricted adjectives to one per quatrain. I didn't quite make that. Oh well, it's something to work on.

Granite clouds leftover from last night's rainstorm hang around, dusking the usual daylight, muting routine work and play with threats of storms to come.

Okay, that's the local weather report. It's been a nice day for reading, and I've been catching up with a "beaded purseOpen in new Window.. Seems a lot of folks have been journaling a while, and I've gotten behind the times, but it's fun catching up.

The house is so quiet at the moment, and the whole neighborhood. No car stereos blaring, no one yelling at someone three houses down. Constance has been reading various psychology-type treatises (is that how you make that word plural?) and has hardly had music on all day.

I'm off to read while the reading's good.
