WOMAN’S CRY FOR JUSTICE [Woman cry against injustice in a man's world where women’s rights and feelings are trampled.] Man needs woman as his mate, Yet he can’t her tolerate. He wants control over her, Her life, her breath and whisper. Though man is totally free, Her freedom, does not like he. Like footwear that’s worn and old Man turns out her from his fold. Sacrifices of woman Are often ignored by man. Born of her, he not on her Does equal status confer. Khalish, no longer women Will bear injustice of men. * Written in 7-7 format. * Inequality and violence against women is rampant globally, more so in societies where female literacy is low. Among muslims, wife can be divorced merely by triple announcement of the word ‘talaq’ [I divorce you]. However, a muslim woman has no right of divorce. Up to 4 wives are permissible in Islam. * Translated from the original Hindi ghazal given below. For learning about ghazal, see "WHAT IS A GHAZAL AND HOW TO WRITE IT?"
