"I've been trying to get ahold of you, all day," Sarah complained to the private investigator, stepping aside to let him enter her home.

"Sorry," Max mumbled.

"So, what's the verdict?" Sarah breathed. She paused. Sucked in a deep breath, then exhaled slowly, steeling herself for the truth. "He's got a girlfriend, or a wife, already, doesn't he? He's some kind of pervert, some kind of criminal, isn't he?"

"Well," Max sighed. "You couldn't get ahold of me for the same reason you could never reach your new boyfriend before nightfall." His face darkened into an evil grin.

Sarah backed away as fangs grew past his lips.
