My life Friends Loves and Experiences |
Had a "lovely" flood here, last night. It had been raining most of the day. Then ast night we got close to 5" in less than an hour. Water was about 10' into my yard from the street. Finally, at 1am, I could see the tops of the curbs again, so decided to try to get to work. I should have been there at 10pm. Okay, I am a cautious driver, especially in deep water, on snow/ice, etc. But very rarely do I get nervous or scared. I just kept a slow & steady pace, foing through the water. By this time, I could not see the curbs or driveways to turn into. And I was not about to stop. I ran every (about 3 or 4) stop sign that I came to. I could not see anything because my headlights were underwater and it was over the hood of my car. If I had rolled down the window, water would have gushed in. I thought I had pissed my pants until I realized it was just the 4-5 inches of water in the floor of my car. Finally, I came to a cross street that is elevated higher than some of the other roads and I pulled onto it and into a parking lot and just sat for awhile, before trekking on. All in all, my car was basically underwater for almost a mile. But, it just kept going and going. :) But I didn't want to risk it anymore. Yes, I was nervous as hell. I'll even admit, I was kind of scared. But my little car kept going and didn't give out on me. Ahhh, there's a reason there are three little words on the top of the engine that say, "Power By Ford." LMAO But, I honestly have to say, don't try this at home, kids. Like I said, yes I was nervous and even a bit scared. Well that's all for now. Have a great day all. :) |
