No. I am not Spanish, nor do I speak it well, but that "Aye Caramba" feeling has been with me for a couple days, since Friday when my computer started acting up. Acting down, actually. Slowed down. Weird boxes popping up. No viruses - according to Norton, and no new software installed recently. What the . . . .? Was a constant phrase running through my head throughout the weekend as I tried all that my computer-limited, non-technical mind could think of that would not cost a visit from my Computer Guru Fix-It Guy. Well, it all works now. Sometime earlier this evening (llok at your clock Archie, that was yesterday!) I noticed most of the slowness was in my Crazy Browser and in Internet Explorer, which are my main browsers, with little problem in my Netscape browser. Both programs, IE and Crazy Browser, which works with IE, had gotten to the stage where they were freezing at half-mast, just about the time when half a page had loaded. I think the combined reinstall of Internet Explorer and Crazy Browser is what fixed my problem, whatever it was. Oh, and somehow I got a program downloaded and installed called "Web Eraser" or something like that. That was a pain and did not want to let go. After getting that installed, it took almost forever to get my Control Panel to come up so I could get rid of it. In fact, it would not allow me to do that until I took "Web Eraser" out of my start up menu, where it had put itself. Anyway, it all seems to be working well now, as I am again able to use Crazy Browser with no apparent slow-downs or other problems. "Aye Caramba Days" have ended! I hope. |
