My life Friends Loves and Experiences |
I'm only going to scratch the surface of my opinions and views here. I won't be going into great depth, just far enough to release the pressure of my political persona that is wanting out. LOL First of all, let me say that I am proud to be an American. I love this country and our freedoms. This entry is NOT meant to anger anyone. These are my opinions and my views of this great country as it is, and how it could very well go. Now, for a question. "WHAT THE F**K IS WRONG WITH THE PEOPLE IN AMERICA?!" The Republicans now have total control of the decisions made on the federal level. I'll start with war. I'll be the first to agree that Iraq needs another leader and that Hussein needs to stopped. But it also NEEDS to be done as a unified effort between the US AND allies. If we go to war with Iraq without the support of other countries, who do you think will be seen as the "bad guy"? Also, in doing so, does that really make us any better than they are? Let's not forget who made Saddam Hussein what he is today. We did, in particular, the Reagan/Bush administration. So whose fault is it that there is a maniacal, power hungry tyrant leading Iraq? And now we have a power hungry tyrant leading our great country WITH control of the House and Senate. You can bet one thing is for sure. This country will be at war very, very soon. I'm not saying that we wouldn't be anyway. What I am saying, is that we will be doing it with little support. Ah, the economy. Now, 9/11 did damage our economy, greatly. But, let's go back two years. When it was announced who our president would in dee be, the stock matket started it's downfall then and there. As one who owned stocks at that time, I can attest to that documented fact. Does anyone remember the budget surplus, we had three years ago, for the first time in decades? Instead of investing that money wisely into areas that needed improvement, education for one, we did the selfish thing and said "gimme gimme gimme" I only know of two other people beside myself who did NOT accept the tax refund. Now, at the end of the year I did get credit for it anyway. And out of my normal tax refund, I took that $300, bought school supplies and gave them to an elemenatry school here. It wasn't much. But at least I put that money where it should have gone in the first place. I'm NOT knocking those of you who did spend your spend refund check or those that REALLY DID need it. So, please, do not take this as a personal attack upon you. It's just that I REFUSED to be bought. I could've cared less about that damn refund if instead it would have gone to a better purpose. And now, here we are again, in a budget deficit that continues to grow as each day passes. On another issue now, is anyone else disgusted at the fact that the president is now going to help line his rich oil buddies' pockets? What I'm talking about is now the republicans have total control, you can bet your ass that there will drilling going on, in "protected" wildlife refuges. The US already has a huge oil surplus that republican leaders refuse to tap into. But, that surplus doesn't make money for the oil companies. Yeah, yeah, the oil surplus is in case of a dire emergency economical crisis and/or war. Hmmm, didn't I just mention that, also? Let's just hope that they don't too get far carried away with invading our privacy and civil liberties, also. If the reblicans remain in charge with THEIR appointed Supreme Court Justices, we will see the MOST conservative USofA. ANYTHING, that is seen as abnormal or "wrong" to them will be banned and outlawed. The republcans rely heavily on the bigger "Christian" organizations for their support. It's all "Scratch my back, I'll scratch your's" If the larger religious leaders want something, they will now have the power to get what they want, also. And just as one example, the progress that has been made by the GLBT community, towards further acceptance could and probably will be crushed. I want to take this time, to say that I don't anything against religion, either. However, i don't want it or it's personal beliefs pushed off, on me. Yeah, we have sepration of church and state, but do you believe that will be an issue when certain laws and bills are passed that invade upon our PERSONAL lives? I know all this probably makes me sound like a paranoid freak. That is not how I intended it. As I said at the beginning, this is just how I see our country and the no-so-great possibilities of the near future. Again, I did not write this to piss anyone off (too badly anyway). LOL Have a great evening. :) |
