The Cloud is Playing Hardball
The Cloud is Playing Hardball

I barely got my WDC Short Story created, my Shameless Plug Page, My Please Review Page, and my Notebook entry today. Why did I have this problem? It’s not what everyone may think it is. My brother and I did have a lot to do today, and it did take us until the middle of the afternoon to complete it, but I still had plenty of time to do all this.

All this barely got done today because of The Cloud. I thought that everything I had written over the weekend at work was gone, and I would have to do it all over again. Why did this happen? It’s because of The Cloud we are forced to use whether we want to use it or not.

I have never been shy about my distaste for The Cloud. I hate it, and I don’t want to use it, but Microsoft is forcing me to use it. At least Microsoft is with me. I don’t know about everyone else, but I don’t trust The Cloud. They say that it’s secure, but I don’t trust them, especially with my writing. I’m very private about my writing.

The only one I trust is WDC. I trust them not to still my writing, but I can’t say the same thing about The Cloud. When I open my documents with a password, I notice The Cloud has scrambled my File Names with letters and numbers. That doesn’t mean it’s secure. At least, it doesn’t to me.

My biggest problem today was creating my WDC Short Story for this month. When I Copied and Pasted it to create this Item, it got all mixed up. I had the beginning of sentences with missing capitals, the names of my characters were missing their first letters, and, worst of all, there were no Quotation Marks at the beginning of my dialogues.

These problems didn’t happen at the beginning of this WDC Short Story, but they did toward the end of it. I think it was the Sections I worked on yesterday. It was about the last three Parts of it that I had the most problems with. I noticed a few more errors, but they weren’t as bad as this.

What will I do? I don’t want to use The Cloud, but I’m being forced to do it whether I like it or not. It appears I have no choice but to use The Cloud if I want to keep writing on my laptop. At least, I will if I want to write at work. The only alternative is to no write anything at work on my laptop, especially my short stories.

The only other things I can think of to solve this problem are to go back to handwriting my scriptwriting, short stories, poems, etc., or to be extremely careful in creating them, among other things. Both of these solutions will take me twice as long to write, if not longer than that.

I don’t want to go back to handwriting my writing, but I may need to start doing that whether I want to do it or not. The Cloud may have slowed me down a whole lot today, but they haven’t beaten me yet. I don’t know how I will stop them yet if I can do it, but I’m not ready to give up yet. I may never be ready to do that.
