Laundry day
Today is laundry day for grandpa. He is in his eighties. He comes and picks me up to go with him to help. He buys lunch I load the machines, I switch the machines. Half of the time he falls asleep in his chair. Then I fold everything but my brother in laws socks. (Let your imagination run as to why he dirties ten pair in a week and sends along no shorts or tshirts.)

I decided to blog about this because the May before last grandma passed. It made me very aware of how easily things can change, and outlined for me in silver the things that have not. I think laundry day is a comfort to grandpa because it is one day where he doesn't have to focus on the changes. He is free to forget that May and imagine Grandma is waiting for him at home, until the clean clothes are loaded in the car.

If you have had a loss try to find yourself a laundry day and let yourself have a little peace in that they are waiting for you in your true home.
