Task #10 Favourite Holiday Movies Starting with something I enjoy watching, though it isn't a movie and isn't counted as one of the ten. It's actually a commercial! MOVIES 1. The Santa Suit I really like the concept of him becoming Santa Claus. The transformation of the character is very well done. He has never seen things from anyone else's perspective before, now he's forced to and he understands stuff he didn't before. I've actually watched this one a few times, which is saying a lot since I don't usually take to movies easily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e3LCVhlQRBU 2. The Santa Squad Because of the various relationships that get sorted out - father-daughters, elderly couple. 3. Saving Santaland Shows how misunderstanding and hurt can be overcome. 4. Since it has 'Holiday' in the title - "ROMAN HOLIDAY" - I'd watched it in childhood with my parents, on screen, and loved it! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vm2FdHg7Io&t=31s 5. Home Alone I'm not much of a movie buff and this task is a bit difficult for me. Since I have to name 10, I'm putting this on the list because I did enjoy it when I saw it. It shows what a kid can do if he puts his mind to it! However, hearing what happened to Macaulay Culkin later on, it now affects my viewing of this movie. 6. A Christmas Carol I like the classic Dickens story, hence this one features on the list. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fd31WpkEi_8 And the animated version https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nD3kFnyIkxw 7. The Night They Saved Christmas Human beings do a lot to destroy the Earth's most precious resources. I think the idea of human activity potentially destroying the North Pole is a great way to get the extent of the damage into children's minds and hearts. I also love the idea of Santa not giving a child a violent toy like a gun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThflrTHiMKo 8. Frosty The Snowman A short animation film, full of fun and song and some witty dialogues like 'us evil magicians need to make a living too'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kSkyv8EUEsU 9. How The Grinch Stole Christmas Not exactly a movie, but a read-aloud of a favourite Dr Seuss story. The message of Christmas in typical Seuss style (Are his shoes too small, or his heart??) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tUchF0dSY_U 10. Enchanting Christmas I like the relationship between father and daughter, and I like what the teacher says about 'belief'. I love the line: "Warm like hot chocolate, but in my heart instead of in my stomach." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQM6ncbBNBo 11.Tails of Christmas Discovered this one - cute dogs! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ReJox8F4VC8 |
