Gryndain The Fierce
Gryndain the Fierce, dragon of Quodire,
lived in a cave beyond the quagmire.
He kept to himself in this swampy abode,
where there were no trees, where there was no road.
Growing old in his isolation,
hidden away in this humble habitation.

Once he was a great dragon of renown
feared in every village, in every small town,
a storied monster of great acclaim,
voices trembled when speaking his name.
But now he hides in utter shame,
a pitiful dragon afraid of a flame.

He ruled the land for many years
through his size, through legend and fear.
Until one day he developed a wheeze
a tickle in his nostril that made him sneeze.
Out from his face shot a fiery burst
And the dragon’s own leg was in flames immersed.

Gryndain The Fierce, by hay fever beset!
by uncontrolled sneezes left singed and upset.
He ran to the swamp, on tender feet,
to soak his head and find a retreat.
Gryndain the dragon, once fierce and brave,
driven to hide here, alone in a cave.

To this day he slinks, head hung like a dog
by the slushy shores of the sodden bog.
Where the trees hold dead arms up to the sky
where no flowers bloom, no pollen flies.
Gryndain The Fierce, brought to his knees,
living in fear of his own fiery sneeze.
