Joe Cocker Woodstock - Week 50
Joe Cocker - Woodstock
His fingers tap in the air
over invisible keys they linger.
A thunder of percussion
hits his spine and bends it,
sends it into fits of beat.
His arms embrace a breeze,
caress its long neck.
His soul guides him
to the imagined frets,
and strums ethereal strings.
With a little help from his friends
he sings.
The music fuses with his voice
his body jerks and trembles.
He has no choice -
the music is within him
and it must have its way,
a convulsive swaying.
He dances in spasmodic delirium.
Musical currents of electrocution
shock all in attendance,
charging the audience
never to forget.
FYI: His backup singers didn't arrive in time due to the traffic going to Woodstock, so his band bravely filled in - one of the reasons that this performance is unique. I encourage you to watch.
