Rationalisations

Rationalisations

As a child, I viewed the poles
(and books often illustrated them as such)
as actual poles sticking up from the snow,
being the visible ends of the physical axis
around which our blue-green globe turned.

And now, from the height of our scientific
explanations, considerations and reason,
that’s a picture as good as any.
