B2 Drowning in Teears

B2 "Drowning in Tears" – create a blog entry (or static item) telling about the saddest event of your life. (<1000 words)

One night my son didn’t get returned home to me after a visit with his non-custodial father. I was worried when I got home and no child was there. An answer on my machine explained it all. My son would now live with his father and there was nothing I could do about it.

I screamed and cried for a time. Probably all night, as I remember. Then I got to work, asking the police. Asking the courts. Asking a lawyer. No help anywhere. It was a done deal. The child was in no danger, he was with his natural father.

So I did what was expected. I now had to pay child support. Unfair, since I made almost no income at the time, but I did it. I visited my son as per the court order. I did it all. For a few years this went on.

Then one afternoon, the father calls me at work and states our son wants to come back and live with me. ‘Well, I think, prayers have been answered.’ And it is to happen that afternoon.

So just as suddenly as my life was ripped apart, it was repaired. There have been other sad events, but this one hurt the most. Once the bond with a child has been severed, it is hard to repair. That bond is still not repaired. Sad.
