"Dark End Of The Street" - The Commitments
And we're back to the Motown sound, though this time it's a cover version from the movies. This film - The Commitments - is the story about the short-lived attempts of a bunch of north Dubliners to put together a group playing soul music and is a hoot from start to finish. This is where I first encountered this song.
I've chosen this version from YouTube, as a slightly longer version starts a bit earlier in the scene: the drummer has knocked over part of his kit, the lead singer has had a go at him about it, and in return he's threatened to insert his drumstick...well, you get the idea. As I said, the group is short-lived. If you haven't seen it, it's well worth a look.
