Flying
Flying
In dreams alone we know of flight,
it’s not as if we had the right
so effortless to take the air,
to be like birds and live up there;
no, we with artifice contrive
to launch ourselves and then to strive,
momentum’s shove and maybe glide,
upon the wind we’ll never ride.

Prompt: Write a poem about flight.
Note: The Beatles wrote an instrumental called Flying which gives a perfect impression of what flight must be like, in dreams at least. I’m not going to compete with perfection!
