taking part in the weekly poetry challenge number 4 |
{ week 10 my faith journey I have had a long spiritual journal Since I was born 68 years ago In Berkeley, California. My father was an athiest. My mother was a lapsed Baptist. kicked out of Church for asking, "If God created the universe who created God?" too much free-thinking for a small town Arkansas Baptist minister to comprehend. And they did not agree On God and religion. Told us to find our own way But always do the right thing. I tried to follow the basic teachings Of all the great religions. I read the Bible. The Buddhist scriptures. The Book of Mormon. the Hindu Scriptures The Tao writings. the sayngs of Confucius And the Koran. And for a while Considered myself Catholic. But quit going to mass As it just did not feel right. But one day I had a revelation I realized that the whole universe Was alive. And I was part of that universe And I was no longer an athiest But on the other had I was never a Christian. And probably won’t be For I just can’t believe In all the Christian mythology. And so became at last Sort of a Buddhist. But to each their own And in the end We will all Find our own way. It is as they say in the end it is all good. getting caught up after being sick for a weeks. |
