A blog detailing my writing over the next however long. |
November 17, 2023, 10:15am Just really happy with this passage, so felt I had to share: ...She flicked the page in front of her, in the year book from the final year of high school they had shared. This was the good memories. They had started dating halfway through that year, and their relationship surely became obvious to even a casual observer. Suddenly there she was in the photos of the school band performing, and there he was in the few photos of the netball team that had made it into the book. She had been so fit, and, she had to admit, so cute. A far cry from this ‘chunky’ girl now holding the book. Chelsea had asked if Titania wanted her to arrange a meeting between her and Frank. She had refused. Now, looking at these pictures from more than twenty years ago, she knew she’d made the right choice. This was who he was obsessed with – the girl she had been, not the woman she had become. Yeah, I don't rate my writing that highly as a work of art (clunky pronoun usage alert!), but that last line encapsulates this whole story. Maybe I should consider a version of that for the title. |
