So, I've updated my word count the past two days and that's all.

The story has become darker than I was expecting, and I finished last night with my MC's best friend dying... He and my MC were playing a computer game together online and the MC (who is the narrator, 1st person PoV) heard his best mate fry to death on the other end of the line.

Nasty, I know.

Adam has truly become a fire-entity now, and while that process will not be detailed, it is going to be alluded to a lot. After all, how could the MC know how things happened? Story logic...

But I am now over halfway to my self-appointed word count for the tale and shit's gotten real.

It's a YA story, but the sort that school libraries in many US states will ban for being too dark... because the USA thinks it's fine for kids to kill one another, but not to read books that might be dark and have non-Christian (or non-Abrahamic) belief systems portrayed in a positive light.
