Gladiator
As blood sprays across the sands,
a cheer and delighted show of hands
echoes and roars around the stands
as another soul departs these lands.
No entertainment in mercy here,
just a vicious thirst that feeds on fear.


Free verse with AABB rhyme scheme. Written 14 February 2016.
