Impotent Fury

I pace back and forth,
grinding my teeth
as my fists clench and release.
A repetitive cycle
as adrenaline surges through me.

Back and forth.

Clench and release.

All the while
the policeman's tinny voice,
distorted by the phone line,
demands details.

Back and forth.

Clench and release.

We talk of property
and vehicles,
but all I can think of
is those bastards inside my house
while my kids were asleep.
