Just Keep Swimming

Tentatively tipping my tiptoes in,
testing the tepid waters.
Wary, watchful...
                   wistful.

Finally forsaking my comfort zone,
I fling myself in,
plummeting
into the unknown.

Sink or swim.

Battling against the current,
no time to ponder
or procrastinate,
for fear of being swept away.

Sometimes,
my style,
my strokes suffered,
as exhaustion set in,
but I kept swimming.

Finally crossing the finish line,
a feeling of victorious euphoria,
and a slow burn
of belief
that I can do this,
non-stop,
start to finish.
