Just things that I think about now and then. |
Did you know that on this day, October 14, 1979, the first LGBT civil rights march took place in Washington D.C.? October 14th is known as World Standards Day and Be Bald and Be Free Day. This day marks the 287th day of 2023, and there's only 77 days left of the year. Discuss either the LGBT civil rights or the World Standards Day or the fact there is only 77 days left in this year. Yikes, where did the time go? There seems to be a lot of International Days of Observance. I will only list for the last of the year. I found the following: 14 October - World Migratory Bird Day 15 October - Global Handwashing Day 15 October - International Day of Rural Women 16 October - World Food Day 17 October - International Day for the Eradication of Poverty 20 October - World Statistics Day 24 October - United Nations Day 24 October - World Development Information Day 27 October - World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 31 October - World Cities Day 2 November - International Day to End Impunity for Crimes against Journalists 5 November - World Tsunami Awareness Day 6 November- International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War 10 November - World Immunization Day 12 November - World Science Day for Peace and Development 14 November- World Diabetes Day 16 November - International Day for Tolerance 17 November- World Philosophy Day 19 November - World Toilet Day 20 November - World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims 20 November- Africa Industrialization Day 20 November - World Children's Day 21 November - World Television Day 21 November - World Fisheries Day 25 November - International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women 29 November - International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People 30 November - Day of Remembrance for all Victims of Chemical Warfare 1 December - World Aids Day 2 December - International Day for the Abolition of Slavery 3 December - International Day of Persons with Disabilities 4 December - International Day of Banks 5 December - International Volunteer Day 5 December - World Soil Day 7 December - International Civil Aviation Day 9 December - International Anti-Corruption Day 9 December - International Day of Commemoration and Dignity of the Victims of the Crime of Genocide 10 December - Human Rights Day 11 December - International Mountain Day 12 December - Universal Health Coverage Day 12 December - International Day of Neutrality 18 December - International Migrants Day 18 December - Arabic Language Day 20 December - International Human Solidarity Day 27 December - International Day of Epidemic Preparedness source:https://www.internationaldays.org It seems to me that if we really believed in these concepts, that it would go a long way toward healing of wounds and promoting (dare I say?) peace. While I get some of them, some are a little beyond my experience or scope of understanding. That doesn't make them wrong, just different. Only 77 days left in the year. It seems we were just complaining about the heat, and now we are worrying about what kind of winter we are looking at. While I have concerns, I am not worried. I know my Redeemer lives, and I trust that His will shall be performed. Am I looking for a bed of roses? Not really. I am a pragmatist of sorts, and I know that the world is crying out for release. I just pray that lives will be protected and that people will look beyond themselves for answers. Anyway, that is my two-cents' worth today. |
