There is a lot within me Other Than Scriptwriting. This blog is devoted to those stories. |
Yesterday and Today It looks like it will be only one Short Story this month. Still nothing from the other contest that I have been entering for quite a while now. I could still be getting a prompt from them. It wouldn’t be the first month that I only had a couple of weeks to write a Short Story for them. It’s either that or there isn’t going to be a prompt for this contest this month. I’m guessing it will be the latter. Even if they do come out with a prompt for this month, it doesn’t mean I need to write a Short Story. I may still write one, and I may not. Right now, I only have one Short Story to write for this month. Unfortunately, yesterday and today has been a typical Monday and Tuesday for me aka my first two days off from work. I haven’t gotten too much done on it. All that I have done so far is the planning and set up of it. What does planning and set up mean? It means I don’t just sit down at my typewriter aka my laptop computer and start writing. I’m a seat of your pants type of writer, but I’m not that much of one. I let my mind and fingers do all the writing. Sometimes that can be a problem. These blog entries are a good example of that. They are done by the seat of your pants. I let my fingers do the writing. That’s my some of my blog entries are a lot of ranting and raving. Sort of like what this blog entry is doing right now. Now back to what I was trying to explain when it comes to my planning and set up. Most of my short stories are planned out in advance. They are usually ten sections/parts long. Sometimes they may be a little bit less than ten, but they are seldom more than ten parts/sections long. Most of the time I write what that Short Story is about in a few paragraphs. they are to help me with that Short Story. What they are saying will be in the short stories, but they won’t be in them per say. Once I get writing, these paragraphs sometimes changes. The paragraphs are there to help me with that Short Story. It helps me focus on it. Sometimes that focus changes a little bit, and sometimes it changes a lot. True, it doesn’t change that much, but it does change sometimes. Hopefully, it won’t with this one. There is one other thing I sometimes do. I try to explain a Short Story before I go into it with a paragraph or two with me writing dialogue about the Short Story that I’m about to write and you are about to read. The WDC Short Story this month is an example of that. |
