Am I bi-racial?
All of my life I have been white.
That is what is on all my applications.
I was raised Irish Catholic American.
But my mother was of the Hebrew race.
She did not believe anything...
You had to show her what you believed.
This created some conflict in my belief system.
I question everything.
When I was a boy, I walked through the house with a handheld mirror.
I wanted to see if the ceiling was aligned with me.
And wanted to see under furniture, to double check it!
Dad built a creshe out of lilac branches.
Then he placed the Holy Family in it.
Outside of it were the wise men and shepherds.
Mom thought it was cute but did not believe it.
"Jesus" she asserted, "Was a myth."
Am I programed to be a humanist?
The Peabody Gramar School was secular humanist.
That's where I learned my sociality.
I still think I am white.
I would feel such a fool to call myself bi-racial.
I am just Irish American...
Right?
