This is a poem written for "Promptly Poetry Challenge (2024-2025)" . The prompt is to write a poem with the theme of "home" that is at least 12 lines long. No poetry form requirements.
Feet stumbling ever forward,
bumbling, tumbling, exhaustion
crumbling the soles
as the soul stays strong.
Weary miles bring thirst
and pain, but first is
the heart that knows
they are coming ever closer
Pebbles poke pads
and toes bleed, fur
matted with filth
but ever closer, soon
to be, no stopping
'til home.
