Words: 299 “Why are you following me?” Puppy stopped. He had been following Kitten because he was fascinated by her orange-and-brown striped tail. Mesmerised, he wasn't even aware that he had begun walking when she had. He didn't even know where they were now. His whole focus had been that tail -- not the route they were going. Where was this? It looked, sounded, smelled and felt strange and unfamiliar. “Why are you following me?” Puppy simply stared back. "DOGS! They get up to stuff and then give you melting brown eyes. It won't work on me. I'm not a gullible human being. If you're stalking me, my Mom'll claw you!" "Stalking you?" came a soft voice. To Pup's horror, Momma Cat came around a corner, and he recognised her. She was the most feared cat in the alley. Nobody, not even Gerald German Shep, dared cross her. If he, Pup, had to get into trouble, why had he picked her kitten to follow? Anyone else would've been fine ... "Stalking my daughter?" Her eyes flashed as she hissed the question out. "Just - her -" "Her what?" "I - her tail is so cute!" Pup blurted. "I was staring at it and I didn't even know -" Momma Cat's eyes softened. A small smile came to her lips. Then, she sat down and positively purred with laughter. "You like her tail! I've been telling that Tom Cat of a husband of mine that her tail is her best feature, but will he listen? THIS proves it. Even a canine - a silly young frightened fellow - thinks so. Just for that you can be friends with my daughter and have the run of this alley!" The moral of the story is that women of any species will do anything when their husbands are proved wrong. |
