That is perfectly normal... Maybe.

The Sign Of Peace!

Every summer in my youth my da would drive us to the Cape Cod
for a summer vacation.
Sometimes we'd vacation on Sheep Pond, but one summer da got bitten by
a tarantula.
This summer da rented a house on a circle round about neighborhood on Cape Cod.
It was near Naset Beech.

Da was a conservative Roman Catholic Latin Mass Catholic.
The Catholic Church at the Cape Cod was "Novus Ordo" as da called it.
The New Order had struck this Catholic Church and it had the "Sign of Peace."
Da did not like the sign of peace, but he insisted on attending Mass every Sunday.
So, da shook hands during the mass as a "Sign of Peace."

It was a barn Church...
Set up for tourist.
My da had his Latin Missal and mom stood next to him, then my sister and me in the pew.
I was bored, until the gorgeous girl sat next to me.
And she gave me a kiss as the sign of peace!
I was twelve and she was maybe the same age.

Her kiss was on my right cheek and I liked it!
My da was busy trying to follow the English with his Latin Missal.
Mom did not notice, but my sister was grinning.
I gave the "Sign of Peace" to the gorgeous girl with a handshake.
She smiled at me, and I gave a toothy smile back.
Then we faced forward to listen about Jesus.


I saw a girl yesterday, who looked a little like that girl.
That's what trigger my memory of the "Sign of Peace."
The girl yesterday was tall and slender and young.
I am now old and lumpy and shrunken.
But it was a found memory...
I will always remember that kiss.
