How do we know when we are backsliding or turning away from God?


Oftentimes, we don't readily see it. But there are things that come up. Time that was once spent in prayer is now used on other things - maybe even good things. Distractions come and go, but you find you have more of them, and concentrate on the distractions rather than the Father.

That is why Jesus gave the parable of the 10 virgins. Only half of them kept their wicks trimmed in their lanterns; they did not know when the bridegroom would come. The other half just did what they did. When the horns sounded, the careless ones asked for help to get them prepared - but it was too late.

I don't believe God is fickle, it is we who run "hot and cold". A constant awareness of spiritual matters is necessary. I've done this a time or two...let life get the better of me and forgetting that God is just waiting for me to come to Him.

Just my opinion on the matter.
