365 Days of Blessing _ May 1, 2023

Dear God,

Your Son Jesus speaks of being humble in terms of a feast in which many may deserve places of honor and respect. I receive His caution to not be presumptuous of my position in the eyes of my Host. It is better to be free of the pride that presumes a worth greater than my true reality. To desire a place of recognition when none is due, no matter the judge and what may seem fair, is to be humiliated in the end. To be comfortable with pride will ultimately bring me shame. I repent of all my prideful ways Lord. Thank You for Your mercy to forgive.

Luke 14:8-11

When you are invited to a wedding feast, do not sit down in a place of honor, lest someone more distinguished than you be invited by him, and he who invited you both will come and say to you, “give your place to this person,” and then you will begin with shame to take the lowest place.

But when you are invited, go and sit in the lowest place, so that when your host comes he may say to you, “Friend, move up higher.” Then you will be honored in the presence of all who sit at table with you.

For everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted.”

I submit to Your goodness and grace Lord. Help me to guard my heart against all presumptions, and especially the presumption filled with pride. Thank You for Your Love. Alleluia. Amen.
