my cat, on a loop:
sits on the floor
stares up at the benchtop
eyes dark as distance
she calculates, wiggles
her bottom, leaps,
misses, falls on her feet
glares at me for giggling
at what never happened
dignity regained
stalks away, haughty
not knowing I've caught
on camera her shame -
