A Xanthic Riddle

Ducklings in a quacking mode
waddle the painted line upon the road
under the warmth of the morning sun,
unaware of all the smiling daffodils
spread out upon the buttery hills,
the tangy scent of dimpled lemons, one
bunch of bananas swaying from a palm tree,
and the Beatle's submarine sailing off to sea.

What's the common denominator showered
into the stripe on the back of a coward?
