prayer prompt Pray for wisdom and discernment and a deeper understanding of God’s Word. blog prompt What Biblical character do you relate with the most? Why is that? I've related to several Bible characters over time. Jonah, I relate to, when I've tried running from God. It really doesn't work, and although I've never been swallowed by a fish, it was not a great time for me. I've been like Martha, who fussed when "Mary" sat at the feet of learning instead of being busy doing "stuff". I've also been like David; on my face, repentant after sinning against God. And then there is Job, who said: Job 13:15 King James Version (KJV) Though he slay me, yet will I trust in him: But I will maintain mine own ways before him. And of course, there is Paul - Romans 7:15-20 New International Version 15 I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. 16 And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. 17 As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. 18 For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature.[a] For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. 19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. 20 Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it. So, I really don't relate to just any one person, but have gone through trials like others; sometimes I'm victorious, sometimes I blow it royally. I am grateful for God's love and mercy always. |
