My Dear Colleen
The hills of Ireland rolling green
And I miss my dear, my sweet Colleen.
I miss the hours we’d talk till dawn,
I miss the love that kept us warm.

I dream of Colleen each lonely night,
And wish that I could set things right.
I see her smile, her emerald eyes,
But sweet Colleen never hears my sighs.

Oh Colleen, I will ne’er forget
The day that you and I first met,
And Colleen, know I’ll always cry
And wish we’d never said goodbye.

We’d walk to town, hand in hand,
And dream of cottages and land,
Of children running in and out.
Those are the dreams we’d talk about.

A little girl with sweet blue eyes,
To match fair Ireland’s cloudless skies.
A quarter acre with picket fence,
Our dreams were simple, common sense.

Oh Colleen, I will ne’er forget
The day that you and I first met,
And Colleen, know I’ll always cry
And wish we’d never said goodbye.
