The End Of The Journey

Just use me up, let me go
I'm tired of it all.
What journey's end awaits for me?
It's too tiring to contemplate.

I no longer fear the night,
Of the ending of the heartbeat;
I long for the peace and quiet -
Of the solitude to come.

I pray for the strength
to finally let go -
To cross that final veil;
Into a rest I've never known,
And troubles shall no longer reach.

Do not weep for me,
I only go on ahead;
Paving the way, as it were.
I only ask that if you remember,
It is with fondness and good will.
