Just things that I think about now and then. |
prompt What do you think the Bible has to say about prosperity? While this can be a sticky subject for some, the Bible does actually have a lot to say about prosperity. 3 John 1:2, NASB: Beloved, I pray that in all respects you may prosper and be in good health, just as your soul prospers. Mark 8:36 NIV: What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Deuteronomy 8:18 You shall remember the Lord your God, for it is he who gives you power to get wealth, that he may confirm his covenant that he swore to your fathers, as it is this day. Philippians 4:19 And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him. I think it is all about balance. Is God just a heavenly ATM? NO...that is selling God short; and a bit arrogant (in my opinion). I think rewards are extra blessings from God; who sometimes uses people to bless us. But we have to be observant and obedient. I do not think that if we just blatantly sin that we should expect God to give us what we desire. But I also don't think that we should become so focused on "riches" that we ignore God's plan for us. Balance. Not one extreme or the other. Just my two-cents worth today. LOL. |
