A Slight Change of Plans

It has finally happened. The new prompt for the WDC Short Story Contest has finally been posted. Almost a week into this month. And it has finally come. It’s also a Short Story that I can write too. There are several of them. Now all I need to do is figure out what one I want to write.

Originally, I wasn’t going to do any short stories this month because of NaNoWriMo. But now that I know I’m not going to be able to reach my goals for this year either, I have decided to write this Short Story. Don’t know about the other contests that I have been entering lately.

Haven’t heard from the other contest yet. So, I don’t know if I will be trying to write short stories for them or not. Hopefully, they will be posted soon too. If they are, I will need to decide if I’m going to try to write them too. Right now, the WDC Short Story is the most important.

Don’t get me wrong. Just because I’m going to write at least one Short Story doesn’t mean that I have given up on my novel. I’m just not going to let it destroy me since I know I can’t finish the goal of fifty thousand words this month. If I’m lucky, I may get a third of that total.

I’m still going to work on this novel at work. I just won’t be doing it on my days off. That isn’t a big problem, though. After all, I have been limited when it comes to writing this novel during my days off anyway. I think it’s best if I do my Short Story or stories during my days off.

Of course, that last paragraph about me not getting any writing done on my novel isn’t exactly true. My brother and I indeed had a lot that needed to be done today that I didn’t know about. But it wasn’t all that bad. I didn’t have a little bit of time to work on this novel.

I finished part three of the Introduction part of my novel, Professional Eliminators. It wasn’t as bad as I thought. Thought it needed about a hundred words to finish this part. But it didn’t. It only needed about fifty. If it even needed that much to finish it.

Could have started writing my WDC Short Story for this month today. But I did write that I would try to finish at least this part of my novel during my days off this week. If I had the chance to do that. That is what I have done. Now the big question is what will I do tomorrow?

There are two choices. I could start working on my WDC Short Story tomorrow or I could continue working on my novel. It will probably be my WDC Short Story for this month. But it all depends on what my brother and I need to do tomorrow and whether I will have the time to do either type of writing.
