Just things that I think about now and then. |
Prompt Do you fear God? Why or why not? This is an interesting question. One one hand, there is the scripture in Matthew 10:28 (NIV) - "Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell." Then, there are scriptures that state (Matthew 19:14) "Jesus said, 'Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.'” Does that sound like someone we should fear? I think that it is dependent on your attitude towards God. If you are child-like in your faith (not childish), you have no need to fear God. If, however, you are bent on having your own way and wanting to do things without thought or care for what God wants for you, then there is good reason to fear, I believe. Galatians 6:7 "Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows." So, for my part, I do not "fear God"; however, I recognize that I don't always obey Him, and I try very much to do things according to what He would want for my life. Am I perfect? LOL Far from it. But I do believe that God examines our hearts, and if we allow Him, He will guide us. My two cents for the day. |
