Another Short Story Almost Finished

Yesterday in my blog entry I wrote about starting another Short Story for this month. Only this one wasn’t for the October Prep Challenge like the last for has been. No, this one is for the WDC Short Story Contest this month. I would like to write two other short stories this month. unfortunately, that’s not going to happen.

Why won’t that happen? There are two reasons why it won’t be happening this month. One reason is that these two contests are separate. But they are also the same too because of who is hosting them. With only a couple of days left to write them, I may get one written. But not both written. Which one do I write? I don’t think it’s right to just write one.

The other reason is that I’m not quite finished writing the WDC Short Story for this month. I think that I’m almost finished writing it. Then again, maybe not. After all, I thought that with the last Short Story that I wrote for the October Prep Challenge. Hopefully, that’s not the same for this Short Story. But it could be.

It’s not just how close I am to getting it finished, though. I’m almost to the two-thousand-word limit on this Short Story. That means I’m going to be doing some re-writing. Just not sure how much I’m going to need to do until I finish it. That’s what I’m going to be doing tomorrow at work. I just don’t know how long it will take to finish it.

It shouldn’t take too long to finish it. Especially, if I am almost finished writing it. Once I do, I will know how many words that I need to get it under two thousand. I will try eliminating the ‘that’ word first. I’ve gotten better at eliminating it while I write now. But I still do missed it every so often. Hopefully, that’s all I will need to re-write.

After I get that re-writing finished, I will be finished with writing for this month. I will still have a couple of days of assignments for the October Prep Challenge. But other that that I’m done with this month. true, I could start working on this novel for next month, try to finish writing the other two short stories, or go back to my scriptwriting. But I’m not going to do that.

I thought about trying to do all three. But like I wrote above, I don’t want to do just one of the short stories. If I can’t do both, then I don’t think I should try to do them. As for starting this novel, I can’t do that until November. That only leaves my scriptwriting. And I don’t want to do that for just a few days.
