Knowing Our Heart - Take Up Your Cross
prompt
How do we know if our own heart is good or evil?
This seems like a continuation of yesterday's prompt, but even so, the answer isn't cut and dried.
The Bible agrees that God knows your heart. God said to Samuel that He sees not as man sees: “man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart” (1 Samuel 16:7 ).
Psalm 51:10 "Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. - This was the cry of King David. He was by no means perfect - I mean Bathsheba Hello??? But God knew that even when he would screw up royally (no pun intended ) God still called him a man after His own heart. (1 Samuel 13:14)
If we are trying to do God's will, to the best of our abilities, then I think we can say our heart is tending toward good. It is when we "stomp our feet" and "demand OUR own way" that the goodness could be called into question. Just my ramblings here.
