Prompt for Oct 21 What are your thoughts about the song, "Peace In The Valley"? Lyrics: Well, I'm tired and I'm weary but I must goin' on Till the Lord comes and calls my soul away Well, the morning will be so bright, and the lamb will be the light And the night will be black as the sea There'll be peace in the valley for me someday There'll be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord, I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow, no trouble, I see There'll be peace in the valley for me, oh yeah Well, the bear will be gentle, and the wolf will be tame And the lion will lay down by the lamb And the beast from the wild, they will be led by a little child And I'll be changed from this creature that I am, oh yeah There'll be peace in the valley for me, someday There'll be peace in the valley for me, oh Lord, I pray There'll be no sadness, no sorrow, no trouble, I see There'll be peace in the valley for me This 1937 gospel song was originally written by Thomas A. Dorsey. It tells us of the promise of peace once the Lord returns, or once we pass through the veil of death to be in His presence. Creation will be back to its original position; i.e. the lion will lay down by the lamb. We will put on the incorruptible, leaving the corruptible behind. It is a wonderful promise that the Lord gives us. It is up to us to be ready for that day, and also to share this with others - giving them the opportunity to share in this peace that passes all understanding. We are not accountable for their decision - only for sharing with them. Lord, help us to trust in you, that we may share the faith that we hold so dearly. Give us the opportunity to share with others, and let them receive your promise. Thank you, Lord. ** Image ID #2283465 Unavailable ** AmyJo |
