Find Your Light
You may be waiting in the wings
biding time in dark shadows
While others strut upon the stage
proclaiming lines of well-known prose

Just a supporting player
not the hero, brave and strong
Still your moment will come
the scene where you belong

Step out of the darkness
feel the warmth upon your face
Step out and find your light
then you will know your place

Written for "Promptly Poetry Challenge (2024-2025)Open in new Window.

Week #12

Prompt: an image of a man standing in front of a brick wall
illuminated by one shaft of light and surrounded by darkness

N.B. - the phrase “find your light” comes from the theater. Actors
are lit to draw attention to them when they have important lines
to speak. Actors learn to “find their light” by feeling the warmth on
their faces.
