May 2022 Prompt #26

The epic fight of the week is RUBBER vs GLUE!

Okay, so this is child-hood chant to deflect those that call you names.

I recently was the recipient of some really ugly name-calling in two separate incidents.

On my train-trip to California, some person told me I would be the death to humanity. I told that person I had not been vaccinated for Covid when that person (gender was never really determined) asked me. I answered honestly. It told me I would be the death to humanity as we know it. That person was my seat-mate from Spokane to Portland. It never looked at me or talked to me the entire trip. Whatever. Telling someone they are the death-angel is a pretty severe accusation. Not like calling someone 'poopy pants' in elementary school.

Then about a month or so ago, a few women involved in organizing a Renaissance Festival here in town told me I was the most rude, hateful person in the world. I evidently did something unbeknownst to me to make them mad. They yelled and screamed at a meeting and left in a snit. Haven't heard from them or seen them again. I didn't respond to their accusations at the time. I still haven't.

I really wonder about the state of our world. Politeness has taken a back seat to name-calling and rudeness.

Everyone, please, can't we all just be a little kinder?
