May 2022 Prompt #2
PROMPT: Share a sad story in your blog entry, but not just any sad story, your sad story should have an interesting twist or an unexpected happy ending. Your story can be taken from personal experience, something you witnessed, or completely fictitious.
My story is true. My son and wife had four children at the time, two sons and identical twin daughters. Then wife got pregnant again. The youngest, the twins were two years old. But unfortunately, this next pregnancy didn't go so well. She miscarried at about 5 months. She delivered the baby, a girl, and they had a funeral. There was a big crisis and mourning time. The baby was named, the baby has a grave.
I can relate this with great emotion. I live in Montana. They live in Ohio. I have never met my grandchildren. I only see them on Facebook. It grieves me that I am not a part of that family. I am sad that I was not there to be a support for my son and his wife. But that is the reality of the situation, not unique. Many families have similar stories.
But a few years later my son and his wife had a successful pregnancy and delivered another baby. Another girl. They say a baby after a miscarriage is considered a 'rainbow' baby. Well, she has now had three more children. They are the proud parents of seven children.
I never know when I'll see another baby announcement from them. It is always a surprise. A wonderful surprise. I always send a congratulatory card and present.
