Fair Exchange

Walk a mile in my shoes, he challenged,
tugging away at my sleeve.
Comparing them to mine, I looked down
and saw an opportunity to thieve.

For his were bright and polished
and mine were scuffed to hell.
So we swapped and slanted off for a walk -
in my job interview I’ll look swell.
