Letter From the Editor What does Saint Valentine's Day have to do with a person's Love of God and the creation of the universe? At first glance, nothing, however, if one meditates on the stories surrounding Saint Valentine, and the reason for his martyrdom, you realize it has a great deal to do with love of God. While there were numerous Saint Valentines, most of them were martyred or in some way gave their lives for their love of God through His Holiness Christ. Unfortunately, in the modern world, Saint Valentine's Day is not a celebration of the love of God, but rather a secular celebration of physical love between individuals. Many people do not know that February 14 is the day, in 296, one of the Saint Valentines' was martyred. According to the story about this specific Saint, he died because he refused to denounce his faith. One of the stories about Saint Valentine, concerns a miracle he performed. In response to a Roman judge's challenge he restored the eyesight of the judge's daughter. As a result, the judge and his entire household were baptized. Later Saint Valentine was arrested and taken to Claudius II, who eventually ordered the Saint's execution. However, before that happened, Saint Valentine sent a message to the judge's daughter, which he is said to have signed from your Valentine.
