Originally written as a blog response to ♥Ho Ho HOOves♥. It kinda got a life of its own... Anyway thanks to Hooves inspiring something on a low-energy day. David Gurwitz about Israel in https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC8156903/ "...health authorities should take steps for building public trust in approved vaccines by increased transparency on national COVID-19 infection, mortality, and vaccination rates, while minimizing actions that may infringe human privacy, autonomy, and employment." Unfortunately, trust takes time. If this were a war? China approached it as a war and the results are stunning. Epicenter of an outbreak with one of the lowest infection and death rates worldwide? But China isn't a democracy and human rights are often blatantly ignored. An interesting point-of-view from the Jerusalem Post and a quote: https://www.jpost.com/opinion/science-denial-and-the-wellness-industry-681365 "COVID-19 doesn’t care if you eat organic or if you “believe” you won’t get sick. — But the wellness industry refuses to be vaccinated." Also news from Israel is that the haredim (Ultra-Orthodox Jews) have changed their attitude towards resisting vaccines. The death of revered leaders may have been a factor. https://www.jpost.com/jerusalem-report/ultra-orthodox-pull-u-turn-on-vaccines-67... Unfortunately pay-walled. Personal Disclaimer: I hate shots. I've been jabbed with J&J. At my age I don't have time to build 'trust'. I'm way beyond 'die young and leave a good looking corpse'. I don't like wars but this may best be handled with that draconian approach. I don't defend the goofs made by China, Israel or the USA in the ways they have handled or mis-handled this pandemic. My Swedish roots cringed at Sweden's nonchalant shrug. Personally I wish we weren't having this conversation but I don't have a magic wand to wish it away and I don't do ostrich. ~275 words Posted in "Blogville " 758 |
